The new board of Directors went for an induction workshop at Rusinga Island Lodge from 14th to 19th January 2018. The purpose of the workshop was to equip them with a deeper understanding of the operating laws in the water sector and the operations of the company. In his opening remarks, the Managing Director, Eng. David Onyango welcomed the participants and hoped that the induction workshop would be fruitful.

The Chairman, Mr. Israel Agina commended the Directors for the good attendance which showed their dedication and commitment to the service as Board members. He hoped that lessons learnt during the workshop will culminate into making KIWASCO a successful organization and drive the positive agenda of the company forward.

Mr. Salmon Orimba, the Cabinet Executive Member for Water, Environment and Natural Resources in Kisumu County Government reminded the participants of how critical KIWASCO is not only to the City but also in the entire Kisumu County at large. He encouraged members to always have the goal of ensuring access to potable water as they discharge their mandate. Lastly, he promised that the County Government through the department of Water will support KIWASCO in all its initiatives.

The 5-day workshop was richly packed with content ranging from corporate governance, Company Act 2015, Water Act 2016, Board Charter and the Strategic Plan 2017-2021. There was an entire day dedicated to teambuilding exercises and the last day was a boat ride to the scenic Takawiri and Mfangano Islands. Consultants driving the workshop were carefully selected in order to achieve the workshop’s objectives.
