THE ANNUAL STAKEHOLDERS FORUM
Kisumu Water and Sewerage Company holds its annual stakeholders forum each year and this time round the meeting was held on December 7th, 2016 at Kisumu hotel. Shareholders, customers, Board of Directors, staff and community members from across Kisumu County all come together for the deliberations.
During the meeting, the Managing Director, Eng. David Onyango informed the members of the current water supply coverage which now stands at 70%. He went ahead to mention areas where supply had been extended within the year. These areas are past Otonglo, Kisian, Kanyamedha, Mamboleo, Chiga, Nyamasaria, Orongo and Buoye. The sewer coverage has doubled in the past year, increasing from 8 to 16% majorly due to the extensions done in Manyatta and Milimani estates.
The Chairman, Mr Israel Agina on the other hand, talked about the projects that had been completed in the past year and those that are on-going. Mr Agina informed the meeting that the total assets increased due to infrastructure expansion. This had a resultant effect of an increased growth in the customer base.
Lake Victoria South Water Services Board CEO, Eng. Petronilla Ogut informed the stakeholders of the plans they have for Kisumu County in terms of provision of water and sewer services. The Board’s mandate is to institute mega developments for KIWASCO.
