LAUNCH OF KSH 8M WATER REHABILITATION WORKS IN SEME
Residents of Kisumu rural (Seme constituency) converged at Osewre treatment works for the Launching of Sh 8m water rehabilitation works, sponsored by the National Government by the help of the area MP Dr Nyikal. This area has suffered in terms of water provision, the plant having been neglected for quite some time. KIWASCO has since taken over the management from November 2014 and the plant is now up and running.
The Managing Director, Eng David Onyango in his speech during the launch, assured Seme residents of improved water services once the project is completed. He urged them to be vigilant especially on the water kiosks that are to be renovated as to avoid vandalism. He also stressed on the importance of forming water Committees where the area administrations should be included in the process of formation. These committees will also assist in identifying the accounts to be metered and also enhance communication as information will reach the residents in barazas. The MD urged the residents to embrace the use of MPESA in paying their water bills. The contractor will involve the local residents in the project in order to foster relationship between the company and the community.
The Area MP promised to work in hand with KIWASCO to help improve the water services to the residents. In attendance was the Area MCA West Seme Hon Benta Ndeda, Ag CEO Lake Victoria South Water Services Board, Mr Chrispin Juma, Head of Commercial services KIWASCO, Mr Thomas Odongo, the contractors among others.
